a film comes along and makes you sit up.
Mad About English reminds me why I love documentaries. It's putting the real and raw together to send a messsage straight to the head. The director, and mind you she's from sunny Singapore, probably took years to conceptualise and follow the subjects in their everyday life to see how learning english in China has changed them. Some for the better, others for the best.
And if you haven't feel the earth shattering vibes from the opening ceremony of the beijing olympics, the film drives home the point: the West will take a backseat cos' China is going to take the world by storm.
Go watch it, it's goooood stuff!
